New Businesses Coming to Downtown

Downtown Dennis Port is very hot in the business and real estate sector.  There are 3 new tenants waiting to move-in on the Barlow stores on the North side of Main St. I’ve also heard there is a waiting list now for businesses that want to come into downtown….

I’m waiting for clearance to publicly announce a positive blockbuster deal on the South side of Main St. Stay Tuned…..

Hans DeCastellane’s Movie Mural

Check out this picture in today’s Cape Cod Times ( Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 ) business section. The beautiful mural by Hans Decastellane was months in the making in his Dennis Port Studio and Gallery. It is now hanging in the restaurant located in the new Orpheum Theater on Main St. Chatham. I hope to get a better picture of this mural in the near future. Great Job, Hans….

Harwich Petanque League

Harwich plays the French version of Bocce called Petanque ( pronounced pa-tonk ). Francois Marin started the league several years ago. He said it is a great game and a way to socialize. He has about 30 people that play every Mon. Wed. & Fri. at Brooks Park opposite the Brooks Free Library. The players also have several social events throughout the year. The scoring is the same as Bocce, but it ends there. The Petanques balls ( called boule ) are made of metal and are smaller than Bocce balls. Every player throws from the same circle at each end of the court. The throwing player’s feet remain stationary. All 8 players play from the same end of the court and each player eventually throws 2 balls. When all players have thrown their balls, there will be 16 balls on the Court. More to follow on this story, but here are some pictures from today’s play, Wed. Aug. 21, 2013.  Chatham also has a Petangue team and they play Harwich and alternate courts in each Town.

Let the Bocce Games Begin

It was a great afternoon on the Village Green with 18 players from the Yarmouth Senior Center, under the tutelage of Ray Petruccelli, to test out our new Bocce Courts. 16 people could play on the 2 courts at the same time and their were 2 alternates. Everyone got to play and there was some excellent competition. There were also plenty of laughs and a good time was had by all. Check out the pictures by clicking on the title of this article.
